Governors' Pen Portraits
MR PAUL EMMETT - Chair/Designated Governor for DISADVANTAGED LEAD
As Chair of Governors, I am honoured to continue serving the school community, working closely with the Local Governing Body, Senior Leadership Team, the Academy, and the Trust. Having been in the role for a year and as a parent of a child attending the Academy (with my other child now at secondary school), I bring a deep understanding of the school’s culture and values. My regular presence at the school as a piano teacher has allowed me to form strong working relationships with staff and students, which I continue to draw upon in my role as Chair.
With over 15 years of experience as a professional musician and self-employed peripatetic teacher, I have worked in both primary and secondary settings across Lincolnshire and the East Midlands. My career in education has been enriched by my ongoing academic pursuits, including a current Masters in Composition at the University of Nottingham. I have been fortunate to collaborate with world-class ensembles such as the BBC Concert Orchestra and the London Musical Theatre Orchestra, which have greatly broadened my professional perspective.
My diverse background, including earlier roles in logistics, retail, and hospitality, complements my governance work, providing me with a practical, well-rounded approach to leadership. I am deeply passionate about education and look forward to continuing to support the school community as Chair, ensuring that we collectively strive for the highest standards of achievement and well-being for all students.
MR JOSHUA Aspden - Vice-ChaiR /Parent Governor
I am currently working as a Tenancy Sustainment Officer at North Kesteven District Council . My role is supporting vulnerable tenants to sustain their tenancies through income maximisation, debt advice, and signposting to specialist services. I work closely with housing teams, social care, and community organisations to resolve issues early and build resilience. My previous roles in the migration / refugee sector include working in research, community development, frontline casework and policy. I aim to support the Huntingtower CP Academy through my experience in project management, equal opportunities, strategic partnerships and community cohesion.
As a Dual National (British -Ecuadorian inter-country adoptee), my experience of being from a minority ethnic demographic, has also inspired my passion around diversity, equality, equity and inclusion. I wish to continue and support the excellent work around on this at Huntingtower CP Academy for the years to come.
MR STEVE PLATTS - COMMUNITY REPRESENTATIVE/DESIGNATED GOVERNOR FOR CAREERS LEAD
I previously had two children attend Huntingtower and remain committed to supporting the school and its pupils. I value strong culture, ethos and inclusion, and aim to contribute in ways that reflect the school’s values.
I work for Lincolnshire County Council in the Connect to Work Team, helping people with disabilities or barriers to work access sustainable employment. This links closely to my role as the school’s Careers Lead, ensuring pupils have inclusive and aspirational pathways for their future.
As a Systems & Performance Officer, I specialise in data, analysis and continuous improvement, skills that translate well into supporting school performance, risk awareness and decision‑making. I also have a strong interest in digital innovation and the importance of preparing children to navigate an increasingly digital world safely and confidently.
With a curious, analytical mindset and a problem‑solving approach, I act as a constructive, challenging friend to the governing body, bringing my professional experience and perspective to support the academy’s ongoing improvement.
MR JON CLACK - COMMUNITY REPRESENTATIVE/DESIGNATED GOVERNOR FOR SAFEGUARDING
I am an experienced primary school practitioner with headship experience for 15 years. I have been a Governor/Trustee of a primary and secondary school since 2011. I currently support a number of schools through my roles at Inspire+.
MR MIKE WENTWORTH - COMMUNITY REPRESENTATIVE/DESIGNATED GOVERNOR FOR SEND
I spent 30 years as a headteacher in London and Lincolnshire.
I have always had a passion for the inclusion of pupils with additional needs in an adapted mainstream setting with appropriate resources and facilities.
For some years, I was able to serve on Lincolnshire’s Special Needs Statementing Panel which gave me opportunities to visit a variety of Lincolnshire schools both Mainstream and Special.
On retirement, I taught basic skills to inmates at HMP Stocken and was a founding Trustee of the Charity Foxdale Equine Assisted Learning based in Oasby.
I am pleased to make a contribution as a Governor at Huntingtower
MRS ELEANOR HEBERT - STAFF GOVERNOR
I have been teaching for 30 years and am in my 15th year at Huntingtower. Throughout my time at the Academy, I have been fortunate to teach across the phases, experiencing the curriculum and getting to know the complexities of the different styles of learning. I am committed to providing a broad, balanced and accessible learning experience for our pupils. Both of my children have been pupils at Huntingtower. I am delighted to be able to be part of the governing body, allowing me to contribute further to our academy community.
Mr CRAIG LEAPER - Parent governor
I am delighted to serve as a Parent Governor at Huntingtower CP Academy.
I currently have a child in Year 3 at the Academy and living within walking distance of the school gives me a daily connection to our school community.
Professionally, I work for East Midlands Railway as the Head of Control. In this role, I oversee real-time train service operations, as well as the company’s strategic readiness for major events and incidents. It is a fast-paced environment where safety, performance and clear communication are paramount.
I am incredibly passionate about ensuring that every child at Huntingtower receives the best possible educational experience. I look forward to supporting the Academy by bringing my professional experience in day-to-day business delivery, project management, strategy and planning to the governing body.
School governance is also something close to my heart. I come from a family with a proud history in education; my father was a primary school Governor in Essex for 27 years, serving as Chair for 25 of those. I hope to bring that same level of dedication and energy to the Academy.
