The importance of maths

Attached is today's assembly explaining the brilliant exploits of Alan Turing, an incredible mathematician!

Some say Alan Turing was the father of computer science. He certainly helped bring the second world war to an early end. Remember, he started by knowing the basics and aspiring to be the best he could be. Be brilliant, and you never know where it might take you.

The modern technology that we all take for granted within our everyday belongings started with something like the Colossus Machine that Turing created at Bletchley Park. To be able to do that he needed to solve mathematical problems. That means knowing the basics; number bonds, times tables, angles, equivalents, etc

Remember, zero tolerance on saying "I'm no good at mathematics." Do not accept it. They can say, "I am not good yet!" Work hard, aim high.
