Table Tennis Event at Grantham College

On Monday, 17th March, I took 6 children down to Grantham College to take the opportunity to play and watch table tennis.  It wasn't just a day out, meeting Grantham College Table Tennis Academy players but also the children had the chance to meet the London 2012 GB Paralympic Team.

The day started with the children taking part in a training session with the first part of the session joining with the Paralympians in a game, with the Paralympians giving the children tips on how to improve their game.  The second part of the session, the children joined Grantham College Table Tennis Academy players and took part in all different activities that the players do to improve their ball skills.

In the afternoon, we took our seats and watched matches between Grantham College Table Tennis Academy and the London 2012 GB Paralympics Team.  This was very enjoyable to watch, especially with the speed and technique of these players, which was outstanding and was definitely worth watching.

Frazer said “It’s been a great experience meeting the Paralympians and future stars of the Olympics"

Josh said "I have been inspired by Will Bayley and all the other Paralympians"

Ben and Mollie said "It’s been really fun watching Paralympians and has inspired us to play more Table Tennis"

Emily and Charlie said “Our favourite bit was the matches at the end, because they were brilliant. The ball skills were really fun and our favourite one, was to balance the ball on our bat"

A big “Thank You” must go to Mrs Winfield who came along to the event as a parent helper.
