Headlice

Check children’s hair daily – look for small grey insects in the hair or their eggs (nits) that are white and usually stuck to hairs

Our old friend the head louse is never far away and there have been several occurrences in school recently. Huntingtower is not unique – all schools throughout the country have a similar problem.

The onus is on parents to check children’s hair daily – look for small grey insects in the hair or their eggs (nits) that are white and usually stuck to hairs.

A special comb can be used that clears the problem. If the problem persists there are a number of special shampoos available. Combs and shampoos can be purchased at most chemist shops. Girls with long hair should always wear it tied up.

If all parents are vigilant the problem will soon disappear
