Footie: So near yet so far!

A very brave team effort couldn't quite keep Grantham Prep. out!

The day was Tuesday, it was cold and a little foggy, and the kick off time approached for the next Huntingtower 5/6 year football team who took on the might of Grantham Prep in the knock out cup first round.  There was plenty of hope and excitement from the players and staff who came to cheer on our team.

The match was exciting from start to finish with both teams hitting the post/crossbar and some brilliant saves from our own Billy A-H who kept the score at 0 – 0 until the last minute of the game when a lucky corner was steered in by Grantham Prep who won the game 1 – 0.

There was some excellent team work, brilliant communication, some exciting runs and some great defending from the players throughout the match.  The football was played at a high standard by both teams throughout and our team were unlucky to finish with a defeat.

Miss Duxbury said, “All our players deserved more from the game and should be proud of their effort and how well they played from start to finish and have yet again impressed both their opponents and the teachers alike.  The children should be very proud of what they achieved so far this season."
A big “Thank you” must go out to all the parents and teachers who showed their support to the children in the cold, wintry conditions.

The following players took part:- Piotrek Kudla, Jakub Novak, Billy Andrews-Harrison, Max Jappy, Harry Edwards, Leah Griffiths, Tom Mayfield, Maksim Rudcenko, Pearce Towler, Ryan Holboj
Well done to you all
