  • Racing into July!

    Published 27/06/19

We are quickly reaching the final few weeks of the academic year and there is no sign of our enthusiasm for learning waning! It was a pleasure to visit Warwick Castle with the Year 6 pupils; they were curious and enthusiastic and epitomised the our academy and trust values. The weather this week has been very mixed and whilst we were disappointed not to be able to hold the KS2 races on Wednesday, we are delighted that the weather has improved in time for the Summer Fayre on Friday evening.

It is with mixed feelings that we say goodbye to Mr Turner, this Friday. Having joined us 14 years ago, he has become a much loved and valued member of the staff. Whilst we are really delighted with his appointment as a senior Pastoral role at a secondary school in Lincoln, he will be very much missed by everyone. It is not totally goodbye, however, but rather adieu as Mr Turner will continue to be a parent at the academy and as, we like to say, once Huntingtower, always Huntingtower.

We now have three more weeks left of term and are particularly looking forward to Moving Up day on Tuesday. Good luck to all of our Year 6s who will be gaining their first experiences of their new secondary schools and we can't wait to meet our new Early Years pupils as well.

  • Making the most of the Possibilities

    Published 20/06/19

Another week and another set of learning opportunities that our pupils have made the most of. Our Early Years’ pupils had a fantastic day at Sacrewell Farm and it provided a wonderful environment for the children to extend their understanding of British animals. Their behaviour was exemplar and they made us very proud. We were equally proud of our Year 4 pupils who took part in the Inspire+ Mini-Olympics. This event provides children with a fantastic opportunity to explore sports and active learning, working alongside many other local schools. Many thanks also go to our Year 3 pupils and staff who went to support the opening ceremony; their positivity was was much appreciated.

It is now only a week until our Summer Fayre. Thank you to everyone who has donated a tombola prize to the Friends of Huntingtower’s stalls. Please remember to return your raffle ticket stubbs and money before the event next Friday and keep your fingers crossed that the weather is good. The classes have begun to work on their games and stalls and it looks to be not only an amazing event where we can spend time together as a community but also a means to raise money for our Friends of Huntingtower. We hope you will be able to join us.

  • Jubilant June!

    Published 13/06/19

Wow! What a week! It is rare for a school week to start immediately after the end of another week but this is what happened when many of our Year 6 pupils left school and went directly to Caythorpe PGL. Despite the challenges of the weather, this brave group were up for every experience PGL offered. The staff who supported them were incredibly proud of all that they achieved and we hope they remember this fantastic experience for years to come. They'll definitely remember the rain!

Back at the academy, the children have continued to improve the quality of their learning. It has been challenging week weather wise (one might question whether or not it is actually June) and whilst we were disappointed that the Kwik Cricket competition was postponed, we were incredibly grateful that the Year 3 classes were able to visit a farm in Ropsley to learn more about how farms contribute to our food cycle. With so many trips and events planned over the next few weeks, let's hope the weather improves.

  • Jumping into June!

    Published 06/06/19

I hope everyone has had a great week off and are happy to be back at the academy. The final term of the year is always busy and full of mixed emotions. We cannot help being proud of how the children have grown in their relative year groups. For some, it has been their first year at Huntingtower and for others, it nearly the end of their journey with us. That means that this term is really special as it's our last few weeks together. These weeks are full of learning, activities and events especially sporting, trips and fundraising. Please keep an eye on Parent hub for more information.

We have begun to think ahead to next year and how our classes will be organised. Please check your child's bag for a letter on Monday as we will be letting the children know who will be their teacher next year. It's a very exciting time and we will be providing children with the opportunity for them to get to know not only their new teacher but also their new class mates and classroom.

Finally, its three weeks to the Summer Fayre. This year, we have asked the classes to plan a range of stalls to keep you entertained and we're very excited that it's taking place straight after school on the Friday night (28th June). We are working with the Friends of Huntingtower to provide this event for you and there will be a Non-Uniform day on Friday, 21st June when we will be asking for a small contribution to the Tombola. We will be communicating the details again through Parent Hub. We hope you can join us.
