Amazon Rainforest WOW event
On Friday 25th April, the Year 5s and 6s had a WOW day about the Amazon rainforest. Our day started off as usual, registration and assembly, but then we got to do something we have never been able to do before... Play a massive game of hide and seek! The Zebras (who dressed up as animals from the Amazon) had to hide somewhere in the school. Once we had done the Lions (who were dressed up as the tribesmen) had to come and find us, then they had to hide with us. After that, the Panthers (who were dressed up as explorers) had to finish the job off and come and find both of us.
When we got back, Mrs Smith got our pet snake, Chilli Pepper, out so we could measure him and find out whether it was a boy or a girl. Unfortunately, we didn't find out as apparently you can't tell with corn snakes whether they are a boy or girl by their size! So we got to take turns holding him; we even had a special visit from Miss Harkins.
After lunch, we had an arty finish to our day! We had to make a jungly themed background using tissue paper. After that, we had to draw a portrait of an animal from the Amazon and stick it on to our backgrounds. Overall I think we had an amazing day!
