Huntingtower's footballers just miss out on top spot!

Huntingtower's best take on a footballing chanllenge down the A1!

Taking part in this outstanding tournament were Phil ,Letitia, Paulius, Jake, Jamie, Josh, Jack, Adam and Dainius.

When put into our group stages our first game was against Colsterworth, we battled our way through for in the end we had come out on top beating them 5-1 scoring were Phil and Paulius. With parents and teachers, Miss Steeples and Mr Turner, cheering us on we played our next match against Taylor Chapman. We all played our socks off beating them 4-0 with Paulius scoring once again to put us through to the FINAL!!!!

Once we knew who we were playing we thought it was going to be an extremely hard game and it was, as we were facing Isaac Newton School in the Final. With Miss Steeples eventually stopping someone’s nose bleed, we were all ready and prepared for the biggest game of all! With everyone smiling and laughing and all of the supporters making such a loud noise the game finally kicked off. Isaac Newton taking the lead was very depressing but we still didn't give up with Jake’s long throws and Paulius' amazing corners it eventually paid off. As one of Jake’s throws got to Phil's head and we deservingly pulled one back. With the final score still level pegging we all knew it would end up in a penalty shoot out.

With Paulius missing we all thought it was over when they scored their first. With Phil stepping up to the spot, he blasted one into the back of the goal. With Isaac Newton missing it was level pegging again, With Jake's getting saved and Isaac Newton blasting one over the bar.  It was all down to Josh scoring and Dainius saving. Josh pelted the ball with the amazing goalkeeper getting a finger-tip to the ball it was enough to tip it onto the woodwork. It was all down to Dainius to save this last one, he only just missed it. Dainius was so unlucky missing the ball but everyone said it didn't matter at least he tried. With Isaac Newton going home as winners we congratulated them on winning and we all put our heads down until all of the parents and the teachers saying it doesn't matter about losing its about taking part. We all lifted our heads and laughed about it .With the day coming to an end we all thanked our teachers for a fantastic day.

Well done to everyone that took part you're all stars!!!! And a special thank you for all of the parents that came to support their children. And a Huge thank you to   Mr Turner for organizing the football team and to Miss Steeples thank you for your support to everyone and a laugh!
