On a lovely sunny afternoon the Huntingtower football team travelled to Corby Glen to play in the cup semi-final.  The children were a little excited but slightly nervous as Corby Glen were an unknown quantity.  The warm up suggested that this was not going to be an easy game for the team and within the first 10 minutes, this showed.  We gave Corby Glen too much respect and they were starting to play through us and we seemed a little unsettled.

Corby Glen struck first with a lovely taken goal by the Corby Glen star player who riffled his shot from about 15 yards hitting the top corner of the net.  This was the time that Huntingtower stepped up the pace with a stunning goal scored by Max Jappy who took on 4 players and then slotted the ball through the keepers legs to level the score 1 – 1.  Half time came and Huntingtower continued to dominate the remainder of the match and it was only a matter of time before they scored again, only this time Huntingtower were awarded a penalty with 5 minutes to go and Max Jappy stepped up to score and make it 2 – 1 to Huntingtower.  With the final whistle going and after a testing game the team are now through to the final.

The boys and girls that took part showed some excellent team work, good communication and some good passing between the players throughout the match.

A big “Thank you” must go out to all the parents who show their continued support to the children.
