We are the Panda Class and we are in Year One at Huntingtower Academy!
Mrs Kightley, Mrs Helliwell and Mrs Marsden are there to support us in our learning each week.
Our project for this term is 'Islands', with a focus on what is an island's greatest treasure? At the start of the project we have suggested that chocolate (to eat), gold (so we can buy more things) and chickens (for eggs and to lay eggs for chicks!) are the UK's greatest treasure. We will return to this question and reflect at the end of the project. Will the greatest treasure be something else? Will the UK have the same 'treasure' as the stunning Galapagos islands?
Within the project we will be looking at the artist Andy Goldsworthy and his natural art using things from nature; we will look at the inspirational sculptures of Michael Grab and create our own transient natural sculptures! Linked to our project will be our history work on Grace Darling and our science work, all about animals and plants!!!
There will be lots of fun and great learning opportunities this term. Don't forget to share your learning at home with us at school too.
Look out for details of future events in the weekly Tower Times.
