We are the Leopards, a Year One class at Huntingtower Academy. We love to learn and enjoy using our skills in all of our subjects. We try our best and support each other in our learning, as well as celebrating the variety of talents we have in our class. Most importantly we try to care for each member of our Leopard Family. Our Class Teacher is Mrs Stephenson, and we are lucky enough to have Mrs Duxbury-Mead, Mrs Marsden and Mrs Sheardown to support us with our learning.
This term we are finding out all about Islands! We are looking at the question 'What is an island's greatest treasure?', and we have already begun to find facts about The British Isles. The children have been able to share their facts with the rest of the class, and some have already done their own research at home. Later, we will look at the differences between the British Isles and the Galapagos Islands, including looking at the animals that make their homes in both countries.
We are looking at Natural Art this term, and finding out about the artists Andy Goldsworthy and Michael Grab. We will be using natural materials to create our own sculptures and examples of transient art. As part of our project work we will be investigating Grace Darling, and finding out who she was and why she is famous. We will also be learning to programme in ICT, and using those skills in a variety of ways.
There are lots of things to look forward to this term, and we are keen to see the children continue to develop their skills. Look out for details of future events in the Tower Times, and on twitter!
