Huntingtower CP AcademyWhere learning comes to life

Gazelles Class

The Gazelles would like to welcome you to our class page, we are going to be working extremely hard this term, ready for the exciting challenges ahead!

Miss Anderton is the class teacher and Miss Harper will be our Teaching Assistant during the mornings. Mrs Cann and Mrs Duxbury-Mead will teach the Gazelles during Tuesday afternoons.

This term we are going to learn about the Amazon Rainforest, the children will be learning about where it is, the climate zones, the layers of the rainforest as well as learning about the people that live in the Rainforest and the effect we are having on it.

Our Science this term will be Living Things and their Habitats.

During the Summer Term, Gazelles will be taking part in PE lessons on a Tuesday and a Thursday.  We will be doing both indoor and outdoor activities, depending on the weather, so please ensure that you have a T-shirt, shorts and a zip up top along with outdoor trainers, as well as plimsoles for when we are indoors. We also suggest that your child has a water bottle with them to keep themselves hydrated when we are outside on the field. Please could you ensure that if your child has their ears pierced, their earrings are either removed before school or plasters are sent in so they can be covered up.

Homework will be given out every week. On a Friday your child will receive their Maths homework based around their learning during that week, this will be due in on the following Tuesday. English homework will be given out on a Tuesday and needs to be returned by the Friday of the same week. It will really benefit us if this is can be supported at home. Reading every day will also help us in all of our work and when you do hear your child read, please could you note it in their blue reading record.

If you would like to know more about what we are doing, please come in and ask. Please keep your eyes peeled for any dates and further letters.

We are looking forward to an enjoyable year.

Miss Anderton
